Iranian President Pledges Full Support to Families Affected by Shahid Rajaee Port Explosion

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has described the recent deadly explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Iran as a deeply sorrowful national tragedy and pledged his administration’s full support to the victims’ families and all those affected.

Speaking on Wednesday at a national festival held in honor of Iranian workers, President Pezeshkian emphasized that the government would take all necessary steps to identify the victims and provide their families with full access to benefits, including salaries and compensatory support.

“The government will stand by the bereaved families and ensure they do not face these hardships alone,” he stated. He also called for a thorough investigation into the incident, urging Parliament and media outlets to actively follow developments and ensure accountability.

Reaffirming his administration’s dedication to safeguarding the health, safety, and dignity of all Iranians—especially the nation’s workers—President Pezeshkian highlighted the urgency of addressing the consequences of the explosion, which occurred at the strategic Bandar Abbas port complex.

During a cabinet meeting, the president expressed appreciation to countries that extended condolences, notably thanking the Russian Federation for swiftly dispatching rescue teams and technical equipment to support Iranian efforts.

In a series of directives, President Pezeshkian tasked cabinet members with working closely with insurance companies to expedite damage assessments and claims processing. He also instructed the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade to compile detailed data on vehicles damaged in the explosion and to coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure prompt compensation.

Authorities are continuing investigations into the cause of the explosion, while rescue and recovery operations remain underway. The Shahid Rajaee Port is a critical hub for Iran’s maritime trade, and the government has assured the public that safety reviews and recovery plans are being prioritized.
