Jordan Welcomes Gaza Peace Agreement, Urges Full Implementation of Comprehensive Peace Plan

Amman, The Gulf Observer: Jordan on Friday welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of an agreement to implement the next phases of the comprehensive peace plan for the Gaza Strip, including arrangements for disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
In a statement, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs commended President Trump’s leadership and the diplomatic efforts that culminated in what it described as a historic agreement. The ministry also praised the contributions of Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye, the Peace Board, and other international partners whose sustained engagement helped facilitate the breakthrough.
The ministry reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to working closely with regional and international partners to ensure the effective implementation of the comprehensive peace plan, which it noted had been endorsed by the United Nations Security Council through Resolution 2803.
Jordan stressed the importance of carrying out all agreed phases of the plan within a clear and defined timeline to ensure the agreement is implemented fully, effectively, and with credibility.
The statement emphasized the need for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the deployment of an international stabilization force, the uninterrupted delivery of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian assistance, and continued support for Gaza’s reconstruction efforts.
The ministry further underscored that the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza and the preservation of the unity of the occupied Palestinian territory are essential for the successful implementation of the peace plan and for achieving lasting peace and regional stability.
Jordan also called for the agreement to serve as the foundation for a broader political process leading to the full implementation of the comprehensive peace plan. It reiterated support for the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution, living side by side with Israel in peace and security.
