Kazakhstan Eyes AI Leadership as Tokayev Meets NVIDIA, Firebird Executives

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held high-level talks with global technology stakeholders to advance Kazakhstan’s ambitions of becoming a fully digital nation, according to an official statement from the Akorda.
The meeting brought together Nico Caprez, Vice President of Global AI Infrastructure Growth at NVIDIA, alongside Razmig Hovaghimian and Alexander Yesayan of Firebird AI.
During the discussions, both sides explored opportunities for cooperation in the design, construction, and operation of advanced artificial intelligence infrastructure, reflecting Kazakhstan’s strategic push toward digital transformation.
President Tokayev emphasised that Kazakhstan aims to transition into a fully digital country within the next three years. He highlighted the launch of supercomputer clusters powered by NVIDIA technology as a major milestone in strengthening the nation’s technological capabilities and sovereignty.
The President also outlined plans for the implementation of the “Data Center Valley” project in the city of Ekibastuz. The initiative is designed to establish a robust computing infrastructure supported by affordable electricity, advanced telecommunications, and attractive tax incentives for investors.
Representatives from NVIDIA and Firebird AI shared insights into a similar large-scale project currently being developed in Armenia, offering potential models for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further explore joint initiatives aimed at developing Kazakhstan’s artificial intelligence ecosystem and enhancing its position as a regional technology hub.
