Rabat, The Gulf Observer: King Mohammed VI of Morocco on Thursday received 12 newly appointed foreign ambassadors at the Royal Palace in Rabat, where they formally presented their letters of credence as ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Morocco.

The newly accredited envoys represent a diverse group of countries and organizations, including Dimiter Tzantchev of the European Union, Helena Nolan of Ireland, Pavel Klucky of the Czech Republic, Helge Andreas Seland of Norway, Diego Morejon Pazmino of Ecuador, Ali Daher of Lebanon, Richard Duke Buchan III of the United States, Luis Filipe E Faro Ramos of Portugal, Foday Malang of Gambia, Bienvenu Okiemy of the Republic of Congo, Ahmed Abdel Rahman Al-Bakr of Kuwait, and Philippe Lalliot of France.

The credential ceremony was attended by senior Moroccan officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita and Royal Chamberlain Sidi Mohammed El Alaoui.

Under Morocco’s constitutional framework, foreign ambassadors must present their letters of credence to King Mohammed VI before officially assuming their diplomatic duties in the country. The ceremony constitutes a formal and essential step in the diplomatic accreditation process.

The event marked the formal accreditation of one of the largest groups of diplomats received by the King this year and followed two previous credential ceremonies held in 2026.

On May 14, King Mohammed VI accredited 13 ambassadors representing Pakistan, Benin, Niger, the Dominican Republic, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Peru, Italy, Angola, Iraq, Colombia, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Earlier, on February 26, the Moroccan monarch received credentials from 21 ambassadors representing the Vatican, Zambia, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Kenya, Denmark, the Netherlands, Argentina, Ghana, Switzerland, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Australia, Sierra Leone, Malawi, India, Belgium, Panama, Egypt, Liberia and Japan.

With the latest ceremony, King Mohammed VI has accredited a total of 46 foreign ambassadors across three separate credential ceremonies in 2026, underscoring Morocco’s active diplomatic engagement and expanding international partnerships.
