Kuwaiti-funded water project launched in Yemen.
Aden, The Gulf Observer: Yemeni Water and Environment Minister Tawfeeq Al Sharjabi launched a water project, funded by the Kuwait Society for Relief in Aden and Lahj governorates.
The project includes wells and the largest solar-powered electric plant in the country.
Al Sharjabi said the project comprises 10 wells in the ‘Aabar Nasser’ well field to ensure sustainable water in Aden and some parts of Lahj.
The project will benefit about 1.4 million in those cities, indicating it is one of Aden’s largest and most critical Kuwaiti projects, KUNA reported.
The project involves installing a solar-powered electric power plant at a capacity of 610 kW.h and a new 1.5- km length electric network.
The Kuwait Society for Relief carried out 29 water and environment projects in 13 governorates to contribute to solving the issue of water scarcity facing many cities and areas in Yemen.
