Majlisi Milli Passes Constitutional and Legal Amendments During Dushanbe Session

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The Council of the Majlisi Milli, the upper chamber of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, held a session of its seventh convocation in Dushanbe under the chairmanship of Majlisi Milli Chairman and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali.

According to the agenda, council members considered 47 items, including constitutional laws, legislative amendments, and personnel matters related to the country’s judiciary.

During the session, lawmakers reviewed and approved amendments to the constitutional laws “On Courts of the Republic of Tajikistan” and “On the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.” The council also adopted legislation concerning primary vocational education and the protection of the rights and social guarantees of persons with disabilities.

Members further approved amendments and additions to several major legal codes, including the Criminal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Labor Code, Health Code, and Tax Code, aimed at strengthening the country’s legislative framework.

In addition, the council examined 30 draft laws proposing further amendments and supplements to existing legislation across various sectors.

The session also addressed a number of personnel issues. Members considered proposals submitted by the President of Tajikistan regarding the termination and election of judges to the Constitutional Court, the recall of a judge from the Supreme Court, and the recall and appointment of judges to the Supreme Economic Court.

The meeting underscored the Majlisi Milli’s ongoing role in advancing legislative reforms and overseeing key judicial appointments within Tajikistan’s governance system.
