Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan Sign Cooperation Agreements on Mining, Banking and Critical Minerals

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan signed a series of cooperation documents on June 16 aimed at expanding bilateral economic collaboration in the mining, banking and critical minerals sectors.

The agreements were signed in Tashkent in the presence of Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov during a ceremony held as part of Prime Minister Asadov’s working visit to Uzbekistan.

The visit took place at the invitation of the Uzbek government for participation in the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, a major platform for promoting regional and international investment cooperation.

According to the signed documents, the two countries will cooperate on the joint development of a gold deposit project in Uzbekistan with the participation of AzerGold CJSC. The agreements also provide for enhanced banking collaboration between International Bank of Azerbaijan OJSC and a relevant financial institution in Uzbekistan.

In addition, the documents envisage joint efforts in the exploration and development of critical mineral resources in Uzbekistan involving NEQSOL Holding, reflecting growing interest in strategic minerals essential for modern industries and energy transition technologies.

The signing of the agreements highlights the deepening economic partnership between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan and underscores both countries’ commitment to expanding cooperation in investment, finance, mining and resource development.
