Malaysia and Indonesia Reaffirm Unified Support for Palestine and Regional Peace Initiatives

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated Malaysia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s struggle for independence and emphasized the shared commitment of Malaysia and Indonesia to advocate for enduring peace in the Middle East.
Speaking during a joint press statement with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Friday, Prime Minister Anwar condemned what he described as Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, asserting that such actions are a blatant violation of international law.
“Malaysia has consistently and firmly denounced Israel’s aggression in Gaza,” Anwar stated. “We remain steadfast in supporting the Palestinians’ right to live freely in an independent and sovereign state.”
He further highlighted the need for coordinated diplomatic efforts to address broader regional tensions, including the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. “Malaysia and Indonesia share a common stance on the urgency of pursuing peace in the Middle East,” he said. “We must also promote collective international initiatives aimed at resolving global conflicts through peaceful means.”
Prime Minister Anwar’s remarks were made during his official visit to Indonesia, which aimed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two neighboring nations. President Prabowo hosted a formal state reception in Anwar’s honor at the Merdeka Palace.
In a display of close ties, both leaders arrived at the palace in the same vehicle and walked side by side to the ceremonial podium. The national anthems of Malaysia and Indonesia were played, followed by a 21-gun salute. The two leaders then inspected the ceremonial honor guard, proceeding along a blue carpet across the palace courtyard.
This visit marks a continued effort by both Malaysia and Indonesia to present a united front on regional and global issues, particularly in advocating for peace, justice, and human rights on the international stage.
