Malaysia and Pakistan Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Partnership
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: On Thursday, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, during which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the long-standing bilateral cooperation between their countries.
According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting took place in a “warm and cordial” atmosphere, featuring in-depth, outcome-oriented discussions. The two leaders exchanged views on a broad range of bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest, including those facing the Muslim Ummah.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Ibrahim on Malaysia’s upcoming Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025. In turn, Prime Minister Ibrahim expressed Malaysia’s support for Pakistan’s continued engagement with ASEAN as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner and endorsed further cooperation between Pakistan and ASEAN, highlighting Pakistan’s potential for a larger role within the association.
Both leaders underscored the importance of dialogue, frequent exchanges, and high-level visits to set the future direction for bilateral relations. They highlighted mechanisms such as the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) and Bilateral Consultations as key avenues to enhance cooperation at all levels.
