Moroccan Embassy Marks Throne Day Anniversary in Islamabad, Highlights Strong Ties with Pakistan
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: On July 30, 2026, The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Pakistan hosted a prestigious reception to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the accession of King Mohammed VI to the Throne, highlighting Morocco’s remarkable development and the longstanding friendly relations between Morocco and Pakistan.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its relations with Morocco, saying the two countries enjoy cordial ties that are expected to grow even stronger in the years ahead.
The minister underscored the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest and expressed confidence that enhanced engagement would further deepen the partnership between the two friendly nations.
Speaking on the occasion, Moroccan Ambassador to Pakistan Mohammed Karmoune highlighted Morocco’s significant achievements under the leadership of King Mohammed VI over the past 27 years. He said the country had witnessed substantial progress through stronger democratic institutions, with its gross domestic product tripling during the period.
The ambassador noted that Morocco’s comprehensive social protection policies had significantly improved public access to healthcare and other essential social services. He added that peace, stability, and the effective functioning of state institutions had laid a solid foundation for sustained economic growth.
Karmoune said Morocco has emerged as a major hub for industry, tourism, and investment and has become Africa’s largest automobile exporter, producing nearly one million vehicles annually. He also highlighted the rapid growth of the country’s aerospace and renewable energy sectors.
Referring to Morocco’s tourism performance, the ambassador said the country welcomed a record 20 million visitors in 2025, including Moroccans living abroad, attributing the achievement to forward-looking strategic policies focused on sustainable development and economic diversification.
Highlighting the longstanding friendship between the two countries, Karmoune said Pakistan and Morocco have shared more than 72 years of strong bilateral relations based on mutual respect, trust, and cooperation.
He noted that regular political consultations, exchanges of high-level delegations, and close coordination at international forums reflect the strength of the bilateral partnership. He expressed confidence that through joint efforts, both countries could further enhance cooperation and transform their shared vision for development into tangible outcomes.
The reception was attended by ambassadors, high commissioners, members of the diplomatic corps, Pakistani political leaders, representatives of civil society, and prominent members of the business community.
