Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Moroccans on Saturday marked the 56th birthday of Prince Moulay Rachid, an occasion that prompted messages of congratulations and best wishes to the Royal Family in recognition of the prince’s longstanding contributions to the Kingdom’s cultural, sporting and social development.

Born in Rabat on June 20, 1970, Prince Moulay Rachid has built a distinguished academic and public service career. He graduated with highest honors from the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences in Rabat, specializing in Internal Administration, Comparative Law and International Relations.

In 2001, he earned a doctorate in law from Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV University in France after successfully defending a thesis on the Organization of the Islamic Conference, receiving the distinction of “Very Honorable” along with the congratulations of the examining jury.

Alongside his academic achievements, Prince Moulay Rachid has played a prominent role in promoting youth development, culture and sports in Morocco. Since 1997, he has served as president of the Moroccan National Scouting Federation, contributing to the revitalization of the organization and encouraging greater participation among young people.

The prince also heads several key institutions, including the Royal Moroccan Federation of Hunting and Shooting Sports, the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation, the Hassan II Golf Trophy Association and, since 2018, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation. Through these roles, he has supported initiatives aimed at strengthening Morocco’s cultural outreach and sporting excellence at both national and international levels.

Over the past year, Prince Moulay Rachid has presided over and attended a number of major national events. In May, alongside Princess Lalla Meryem, he chaired the awards ceremony of the 50th Hassan II Golf Trophy and the 29th Lalla Meryem Cup at the Royal Golf Dar Es-Salam in Rabat.

In April, he inaugurated the 18th International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM) in Meknes, held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI and dedicated to sustainability in animal production and food sovereignty.

Earlier in the year, Prince Moulay Rachid chaired the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. Acting on the instructions of King Mohammed VI, he later received members of Morocco’s national football team at the Royal Guest Palace.

The prince also represented King Mohammed VI at several high-level international and national events, including the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha in September 2025. He additionally presided over official ceremonies associated with Throne Day celebrations and major sporting events, including the Throne Cup football final.

As President of the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation, Prince Moulay Rachid has continued to promote Morocco’s cultural influence abroad. In November 2025, he presided over a dinner marking the opening of the 22nd Marrakech International Film Festival, one of Morocco’s most prominent cultural events.

The celebration of Prince Moulay Rachid’s 56th birthday highlights his enduring role in public life and his continued contribution to advancing Morocco’s cultural, social and sporting development under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
