Oman, Malaysia Strengthen Cooperation in Combating Financial Crimes with New MoU

Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: The National Centre for Financial Information (NCFI) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) on the sidelines of the Egmont Group Plenary Meeting held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The agreement is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation through the exchange of information, expertise, and best practices in the fight against money laundering, terrorism financing, and the proliferation of weapons.
The MoU reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to enhancing international cooperation in addressing financial crimes and improving the effectiveness of financial intelligence mechanisms.
The agreement was signed by Col. Juma Matar Al Dhuhli, Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Financial Information, reaffirming the commitment of both sides to closer collaboration in safeguarding the integrity of the global financial system.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the Egmont Group’s plenary meeting, which brings together financial intelligence units from around the world to strengthen international coordination in combating illicit financial activities.
