Oman to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr on April 22

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Main Committee for the Eid Al-Fitr Moon Sighting 1444 AH has announced that Saturday, April 22, 2023, will be the first day of Eid-Al-Fitr.

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) said in a statement: “Praise be to Allah and prayer and peace be upon His Messenger Mohammad. The main committee for moon sighting has met on the evening of Thursday, 29th Ramadan, 1444 AH (20th April, 2023), chaired by His Excellency Dr. Mohamed bin Said bin Khalfan Al Mamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs.”

MERA added that the committee did NOT receive any evidence of the crescent sighting of the month of Shawwal 1444 AH, therefore it announces that tomorrow, Friday, 21st April, 2023, will mark the end of Ramadan 1444 AH, and Saturday, 22nd April, 2023 will mark the beginning of Blessed Eid-Al-Fitr 1444 AH. On this blessed occasion, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs is pleased to deliver its sincere congratulations and good wishes to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, May the Almighty Allah protect Him and grant Him good health.

The Ministry also prays for Oman’s prosperity and that of all Muslims alike, asking the Almighty to bless this Holy month.
