Turkmenistan and WHO Discuss Further Development of Healthcare Cooperation

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: On 20 April 2026, a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and Egor Zaitsev, Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Ashgabat. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister Azat Ovezov.

During the talks, the parties exchanged views on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the World Health Organization in key areas of mutual interest.

Particular attention was given to the advancement of draft bilateral and multilateral documents, as well as preparations for upcoming international events in the healthcare sphere.

The interlocutors also discussed arrangements for a planned side event in Geneva on the margins of the 79th session of the World Health Assembly.

Following the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening partnership relations and enhancing regional cooperation in the field of healthcare.

The meeting underscores Turkmenistan’s commitment to close collaboration with the World Health Organization in advancing public health initiatives and implementing joint projects aimed at improving the well-being of the population.
