Opening of Auezov University Branch in Chirchik

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: In a significant step towards fostering international collaboration in the field of higher education, The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kogratbay Sharipov, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, Beibut Atamkulov, graced the presentation ceremony marking the opening of a branch of the prestigious South Kazakhstan Research University (SKU) named after M. Auezov in Chirchik, Tashkent region.

The event, attended by distinguished guests, showcased the commitment of both nations to advancing educational ties and facilitating the exchange of knowledge. During the presentation, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board – Rector of SKU named after M. Auezov, Daria Kozhamzharova, provided valuable insights into the prospective launch of the university branch, scheduled for September 2024.

South Kazakhstan University named after M. Auezov, with its 80-year history, stands as a leading multidisciplinary institution in the Republic of Kazakhstan, offering 301 educational programs across bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Auezov University’s expansion into Uzbekistan is poised to contribute significantly to the local labor market, addressing the demand for skilled professionals in areas such as humanities, technology, IT, chemical and food engineering.

The branch is strategically positioned to align with the industrial needs of the region, a sentiment echoed by Davron Khidoyatov, the khokim of the city of Chirchik. Khidoyatov emphasized the critical role the university branch will play in training personnel essential for the industrial development of Chirchik.

Auezov University’s plans encompass a diverse array of educational programs including Economics, Jurisprudence, International Law, Biotechnology, Ecology, Information Systems, Automation and Control, Mechanical Engineering, Transport, Electric Power, Chemical Technology, Oil and Gas Business, Metallurgy, Food Safety and Engineering, Technology and Design of Textile Materials, Production of Building Materials, Life Safety, and Environmental Protection.

This initiative aligns with the educational sector’s objectives outlined in the “Road Map,” a document signed during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.K. Tokayev, to Uzbekistan in December 2022. The opening of Auezov University’s branch in Chirchik signifies a significant milestone in the strengthening of educational cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, fostering mutual development and prosperity.
