Pakistan and Azerbaijan to Strengthen Trade and Joint Projects
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have committed to enhancing their trade partnership and collaborating on joint projects, with practical work set to begin in the coming days. This development follows a productive meeting between Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, and Pakistan’s Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment, and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, held on Saturday. The meeting highlighted positive outcomes from recent diplomatic activities, including high-level exchanges and Pakistan’s active participation in the COP 29 conference in Baku.
Minister Aleem Khan welcomed Ambassador Farhadov and emphasized the potential for expanding bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including tourism. “We need to convert our mutual relations into business and bilateral trade, and we are making positive progress from both sides,” said Aleem Khan.
The Minister also invited Azerbaijani companies to invest and establish businesses in Pakistan, suggesting that foreign investment could be pursued through government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B) frameworks, particularly under current circumstances. He further discussed potential investment opportunities in the M6 and M9 Motorways, which connect Karachi to Sukkhar and Sukkhar to Hyderabad, highlighting vast potential for foreign investors in multiple sectors.
Ambassador Farhadov expressed Azerbaijan’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s efforts in fostering investment and initiating joint projects. He assured the Minister of Azerbaijan’s full cooperation in this regard.
Additionally, the meeting explored the possibility of trilateral cooperation between Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye. Following the discussions, Minister Aleem Khan instructed the Board of Investment to nominate a Focal Person to maintain close liaison with the Government of Azerbaijan to streamline efforts and foster deeper ties.
