Pakistan, DR Congo Agree to Strengthen Defence Cooperation and Military Ties

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: A high-level defence delegation from the Democratic Republic of Congo, headed by Lt Gen Banza Mwilambwe Jules, Chief of Defence Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), at Air Headquarters, Islamabad.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and avenues for enhancing bilateral defence cooperation.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu highlighted the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo and emphasized the importance of further expanding defence ties between the two countries. He reaffirmed the PAF’s resolve to strengthen bilateral military cooperation, particularly through increased interaction, training and the exchange of professional expertise between the armed forces.

The Air Chief also briefed the visiting dignitary on the Pakistan Air Force’s indigenous capabilities and its continued efforts toward achieving greater self-reliance in defence production and operational capabilities.

Lt Gen Banza Mwilambwe Jules appreciated the professionalism, operational preparedness and high standards of training maintained by the Pakistan Air Force. He expressed keen interest in the PAF’s indigenous capabilities and acknowledged the significant progress made through indigenization and self-reliance.

The visiting dignitary underscored his commitment to rebuilding and modernizing the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Air Force and expressed a strong desire to benefit from the Pakistan Air Force’s extensive professional expertise and experience.

The visit reflected the shared commitment of Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo to further strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and developing enduring institutional linkages, with a view to contributing to regional peace and stability.
