PM Chính Enhances Economic Ties with Vietnamese Business Community in Australia
Canberra, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính engaged in a productive working session with leaders and members of the Vietnamese Business Association in Australia (VBAA) in Canberra on the morning of March 9. This meeting was a pivotal component of his official visit to Australia, underscoring the growing economic collaboration between the two nations.
The VBAA, established in 2010 and boasting approximately 500 members, including around 100 in Việt Nam, played host to the Prime Minister as he discussed the heightened status of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Australia. The comprehensive strategic partnership, recently achieved, has created a favorable environment for Vietnamese businesses to thrive in Australia and foster increased bilateral trade and investment.
VBAA Chairman Trần Bá Phúc and other members expressed their satisfaction at the escalating stature of their homeland and the deepening ties between the two countries. Recognizing the myriad opportunities arising from the enhanced relationship, they presented proposals spanning green transition, renewable energy, startups, innovation, foreign investment attraction, leveraging the expertise of Vietnamese students in Australia, attracting Australian tourists, labor cooperation, and boosting exports to Australia.
Prime Minister Chính commended the recent achievements of the VBAA, acknowledging their significant contributions to the economic development of both nations and the facilitation of connections among Vietnamese businesses in Australia. He relayed that Australian leaders, during his visit, praised the Vietnamese community, prompting him to propose the formal recognition of the 350,000 Vietnamese people in Australia as an ethnic minority group.
Emphasizing the flourishing economic, trade, and investment ties between the two nations, Prime Minister Chính urged the VBAA and Vietnamese businesses in Australia to leverage the newly established comprehensive strategic partnership for mutual economic benefit. He called upon the VBAA to continue its pivotal role in connecting and supporting Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs, not only within Australia but also by fostering connections with Vietnamese business associations globally, particularly in the US, Japan, and European nations.
The Prime Minister further urged the VBAA to actively engage in supporting the Vietnamese community, especially vulnerable individuals and recent arrivals in Australia. He called for efforts to persuade the Australian authorities to officially recognize the Vietnamese community as an ethnic minority group, promote the preservation and learning of the Vietnamese language, propagate Vietnamese culture, and intensify cultural exchanges and tourism initiatives between the two countries.
In concluding remarks, Prime Minister Chính expressed confidence in the robust development of the VBAA and Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs worldwide. He affirmed his belief that their growth would significantly contribute to the development of the Vietnamese community, foster stronger bilateral relations, and contribute to the overall prosperity of both Australia and Vietnam.
