Baku. The Gulf Observer: President Ilham Aliyev has reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to ensuring that technological progress serves the welfare of humanity, describing it as one of the fundamental principles of the country’s state policy.

In a message addressed to participants of the International Baku Ombudsmen Summit, held under the theme “Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Risks and Responsibilities,” the president underscored the importance of balancing technological advancement with the protection of human rights.

“Our country regards ensuring that technological progress serves human welfare as one of the fundamental principles of state policy,” President Aliyev said.

The head of state noted that Azerbaijan is taking significant steps toward the responsible and balanced application of innovative technologies and artificial intelligence, recognizing their growing role in social and economic development.

President Aliyev highlighted that a range of legal acts, strategic concepts and action plans adopted by the country are aimed at facilitating the safe and effective implementation of artificial intelligence technologies.

He emphasized that these measures promote the use of innovative technologies within a framework based on security, transparency and respect for human rights, while also supporting inclusive development and accelerating digital transformation.

The president’s remarks reflected Azerbaijan’s broader efforts to integrate advanced technologies into national development strategies while ensuring that ethical standards and human rights considerations remain at the forefront of digital innovation.
