President Ilham Aliyev Receives Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna
Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on October 22 received Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Margus Tsahkna.
Minister Tsahkna congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the achievements attained in Washington concerning the advancement of the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Expressing gratitude for the congratulations, President Aliyev highlighted the special role of U.S. President Donald Trump in facilitating the process. He noted that the agreements reached during the Washington meeting hold historical significance and underscored the importance of establishing a transport link between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan region.
The Estonian Foreign Minister commended Azerbaijan’s decision to allow the transit of grain imported by Armenia from Kazakhstan through Azerbaijani territory, describing it as a meaningful step toward normalizing relations between the two neighboring countries.
Minister Tsahkna stated that he was accompanied by a large business delegation and noted the holding of a business forum in Baku, expressing optimism that such initiatives would further strengthen economic and trade ties between Azerbaijan and Estonia.
He reaffirmed Estonia’s support for Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the European Union and NATO and praised the positive momentum in Azerbaijan-EU relations.
President Aliyev, recalling his recent meetings with President of the European Council Antonio Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Tirana and Copenhagen, noted that new opportunities for cooperation had emerged between Azerbaijan and the European Union in areas such as energy, transport connectivity, and other sectors.
Minister Tsahkna also extended his congratulations on the successful organization of COP29 in Azerbaijan, emphasizing that the event had yielded significant results in advancing the global climate agenda.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to further developing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Estonia.
