Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing regional peace and security, during a telephone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The discussion followed confirmation by United States President Donald Trump that American representatives would travel to Islamabad for a second round of negotiations with Iran aimed at addressing the ongoing Middle East crisis.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders held a detailed 45-minute conversation, exchanging views on the evolving regional situation and ongoing diplomatic developments.

Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed appreciation to the Iranian leadership for dispatching a high-level delegation, led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Abbas Araghchi, to Islamabad for talks held on April 11–12.

He noted that recent engagements with leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Türkiye had played a constructive role in building consensus in support of sustained dialogue and diplomacy, aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.

The prime minister also thanked Iran for its engagement with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Syed Asim Munir, during his recent visit to Tehran.

Reiterating Pakistan’s position, Prime Minister Shehbaz underscored that the country would remain fully committed to promoting regional peace and security in collaboration with its international partners. He also conveyed his regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader.

President Pezeshkian, in turn, appreciated Pakistan’s continued commitment to peace efforts and expressed confidence that bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan would further strengthen in the days ahead.
