President of Turkmenistan Receives Executive Secretary of Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Monday received the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Robert Floyd, according to official Turkmen media.
During the meeting, Mr. Floyd commended Turkmenistan’s foreign policy based on its internationally recognized status of permanent neutrality, noting its contribution to strengthening global peace and security. He also emphasized that the CTBTO attaches significant importance to expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. He noted that Turkmenistan was among the first countries to sign the treaty, reflecting its longstanding commitment to peace, stability, and international security.
The President further stated that Mr. Floyd’s visit includes participation in a high-level regional conference dedicated to the treaty’s anniversary, and extended best wishes for productive engagements.
Both sides underscored the constructive and effective nature of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the CTBTO. Turkmenistan was recognized for consistently fulfilling its international obligations regarding the prohibition of nuclear tests, non-proliferation efforts, and its support for the establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in Central Asia.
On the same day, the capital Ashgabat hosted a regional high-level meeting commemorating the 30th anniversary of the treaty’s adoption. The gathering brought together deputy foreign ministers from Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, the CTBTO Executive Secretary, as well as heads of diplomatic missions from Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic, highlighting broad regional support for nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation efforts.
