President of Uzbekistan Reviews Infrastructure Development of New Tashkent
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The President of Uzbekistan reviewed the ongoing construction of transport infrastructure and utilities in New Tashkent, a city designed to accommodate 1 million residents. The project, marked by its ambition and innovation, prioritizes long-term sustainability and harmony between infrastructure, daily life, and the environment.
Sustainable and Modern Transport Systems
The new city will feature an environmentally friendly transport system, integrating metro lines and electric buses. Plans include the construction of 14 transport tunnels and underground parking facilities for 100,000 vehicles. Additionally, the city will provide a barrier-free and safe environment for pedestrians and cyclists.
During the inspection, the President reviewed the foundation and waterproofing works at one of the key intersections. He emphasized the use of high-quality materials resistant to external influences to ensure the durability of infrastructure.
Advanced Utilities and Smart Technologies
The construction of single-section and double-section engineering collectors has commenced, enabling centralized underground networks for heating, water supply, electricity, and telecommunications. The city will also adopt smart technologies to meet modern urbanization demands, including the construction of the country’s first trigeneration station.
Water sustainability is a key focus, with plans to process wastewater using advanced technologies. The treated water will be reused for irrigation and technical purposes, reflecting the city’s commitment to ecological responsibility.
Investment Opportunities and Development Projects
The President was presented with investment projects for the first stage of New Tashkent’s development. Auctions have already facilitated investments totaling $490 million for 11 mixed-use complexes, as well as hotels and restaurants. These developments will create a vibrant urban environment, featuring residential and commercial spaces, social institutions, and uniquely designed hospitality venues to attract tourists.
Next year, additional land plots will be auctioned, introducing new investment opportunities and projects. This phased development approach is expected to foster economic growth, support local businesses, and generate thousands of jobs.
Employment and Innovation Hub
New Tashkent aims to create approximately 200,000 high-income jobs through the introduction of innovative technologies. The city will host technology parks, an IT park, as well as educational and medical clusters, positioning it as a hub of innovation and opportunity.
A Model for Urban Development
With its integration of modern infrastructure, sustainable practices, and cutting-edge technology, New Tashkent is set to become a benchmark for urban development in the region. The project has garnered significant interest from local and foreign investors, solidifying its role as a key driver of Uzbekistan’s economic and urban transformation.
