President Pezeshkian Praises Ayatollah Sistani’s Support for Iran
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, has praised the supportive stance of senior Iraqi cleric Ali al-Sistani toward the Islamic Republic amid recent regional tensions.
In a message posted in Arabic on his X account on Monday, President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for what he described as the wise positions and steadfast support of Grand Ayatollah Sistani for Iran and for those affected by the recent aggression attributed to the United States and the Israeli regime.
The Iranian president also commended the expressions of sympathy, solidarity, and support demonstrated by the people of Iraq toward the Iranian nation during the recent developments.
Pezeshkian stated that Ayatollah Sistani has consistently served as a strong spiritual authority and an important supporter of oppressed people across the region.
The remarks come months after Grand Ayatollah Sistani, in March, called on Muslims and free peoples around the world to stand with Iran, warning that the continuation of war and escalating tensions could lead to widespread instability and chaos throughout the region.
The statements reflect the continued close religious and political ties between Iran and influential Iraqi Shia religious leadership amid ongoing regional security challenges.
