President Pezeshkian Reaffirms Iran’s Commitment to Regional Peace During Meeting with New Swiss Ambassador

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday reaffirmed Iran’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace, stability, and security in the West Asia region, stressing that negative propaganda directed against the Islamic Republic is baseless and detached from reality.
The remarks came as President Pezeshkian received the credentials of the new Swiss Ambassador to Iran, Olivier Bangerter, during an official ceremony in Tehran.
Highlighting Iran’s longstanding pursuit of peaceful coexistence and regional stability, the president underlined the importance of expanding bilateral interactions and strengthening joint cooperation in various fields. He also commended Switzerland’s historical and constructive role as a communication channel between Tehran and Washington since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
President Pezeshkian urged Ambassador Bangerter to convey to American officials that Iran has never sought nuclear weapons, remaining steadfast in its principled and transparent policies on this matter.
He further praised Switzerland’s neutral and balanced stance among European nations, particularly its constructive approach in addressing international disputes. The president expressed appreciation for Switzerland’s cooperation in key sectors, notably pharmaceuticals and food, amid the economic hardships caused by what he termed unjust sanctions and misguided policies from the United States and certain European countries.
Condemning the Israeli regime’s actions against the people of Gaza, President Pezeshkian said such conduct is the root cause of regional instability, describing it as both inhumane and unlawful.
In response, Ambassador Olivier Bangerter expressed his honor to begin his diplomatic mission in Iran and outlined his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and reinforcing Switzerland’s role as a reliable intermediary between Tehran and Washington.
The ambassador assured that he would make every effort to fulfill his mission while also working to promote understanding of Iran’s rich culture, history, and hospitality among the international community.
