President Prabowo Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthen Indonesia–China Cooperation

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with China during a high-level meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday.
“Indonesia is ready to create a secure and prosperous region. We are ready to strengthen cooperation with China so that together we can build a peaceful region, and safe for all,” President Subianto stated during the bilateral talks.
Emphasizing the importance of peace and regional stability, President Subianto reiterated Indonesia’s readiness to deepen cooperation with China in pursuit of a harmonious and secure regional environment. He stressed that China remains a key partner in Indonesia’s foreign policy and regional engagement efforts.
As part of these efforts, President Subianto voiced Indonesia’s continued support for the acceleration and successful conclusion of the Code of Conduct (CoC) negotiations, a critical diplomatic initiative aimed at preserving stability and order in the South China Sea.
On maritime collaboration, President Subianto welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) and the China Coast Guard. “This MoU will enhance cooperation in capacity building, information development, and maritime safety,” he remarked, highlighting the significance of strengthening maritime security ties between the two nations.
Premier Li Qiang’s official visit to Jakarta marks the continuation of China’s strong diplomatic engagement with Southeast Asia. The visit is part of a broader three-day official tour of Indonesia, aimed at deepening strategic partnerships across political, economic, and security domains.
The bilateral meeting was attended by several high-ranking Indonesian officials, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Chairman of the National Economic Council Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
Also present were Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Head of the State Intelligence Agency Muhammad Herindra, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Stella Christie, Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir, and Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Indonesia and China to foster deeper cooperation across a range of strategic sectors, from economic development and maritime security to regional diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges.
