President Tokayev Celebrates 30th Anniversary of People’s Assembly, Highlights Role in National Unity

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed the opening of the 34th session of the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan in Astana, extending his heartfelt congratulations to its members on the occasion of the Assembly’s 30th anniversary.
Describing the event as a moment of profound historical significance, the Head of State emphasized the vital role the People’s Assembly has played over the past three decades in fostering national unity, stability, and interethnic harmony. “The history of the Assembly is an integral part of the history of independent Kazakhstan,” the President stated.
Established in 1995 on the initiative of Kazakhstan’s First President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, the People’s Assembly has evolved into a unique and influential institution dedicated to promoting peace and mutual understanding among the nation’s diverse communities. In 2007, the Assembly was granted constitutional status, further solidifying its position as a central pillar of Kazakhstan’s model of interethnic accord.
President Tokayev praised the Assembly’s consistent contribution to building a cohesive and inclusive society. He underscored its active engagement with public organizations and institutions, as well as its role in advancing constructive dialogue between the state and civil society.
“The Assembly has not only strengthened interethnic relations but has also become a symbol of Kazakhstan’s commitment to national harmony and unity,” President Tokayev remarked.
The President concluded by reaffirming the government’s continued support for the Assembly’s mission and its role in shaping a peaceful and progressive Kazakhstan. The 34th session, held under the President’s chairmanship, marks a significant milestone in the institution’s enduring journey and its continued relevance in Kazakhstan’s sociopolitical landscape.
