President Tokayev Highlights Strategic Role of EAEU at Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk

Minsk, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan addressed the plenary session of the Eurasian Economic Forum, held in Minsk, Belarus, under the theme “Strategy of Eurasian Economic Integration: Results and Prospects,” the Akorda press service reported.

In his remarks, President Tokayev emphasized the forum’s significance as a vital platform for substantive dialogue on the key issues of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and its future trajectory.

“As we stand on the threshold of a new stage in its development, the Union rightfully holds the status of one of the largest economic associations in Eurasia, with a combined economic potential of $2.6 trillion,” President Tokayev stated.

He highlighted that the volume of mutual trade among EAEU member states reached a record $98 billion in 2024, nearly doubling the 2015 figure. Furthermore, he noted that for the second consecutive year, the aggregate GDP growth rate of the member countries outpaced the global average, underscoring the Union’s strengthening role in the global economic system.

President Tokayev stressed that the further development of the EAEU must rest on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, and pragmatism, ensuring that integration efforts truly serve the interests of member economies.

“Integration alone does not yield the desired outcomes. It must result from joint efforts to achieve mutually acceptable compromises,” he noted, adding that the Union’s growing international authority is a reflection of its increasing relevance and effectiveness on the global stage.

The forum brought together high-level officials, experts, and business leaders to assess progress in Eurasian economic integration and explore new avenues for enhancing cooperation within the EAEU framework.
