Iranian Foreign Minister Urges Europe to Condemn Israeli and U.S. Aggression in Call with Polish Counterpart

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi has strongly criticized the positions of certain European countries for their perceived support of the Israeli regime and their failure to explicitly condemn recent Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran. His remarks came during a telephone conversation with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski on Thursday.

Araqchi called for a fair and responsible European response to what he described as the Israeli regime’s continued roguery in the region, urging European nations to take a principled stance in line with international law.

Outlining the scope of recent Israeli actions, Araqchi said that Iran has been subjected to acts of terrorism, assassinations of military officials and academics, as well as attacks on infrastructure, peaceful nuclear facilities, and residential areas in multiple cities. He characterized these actions as a clear act of aggression, citing Article 39 and Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, and stressed that the international community bears the responsibility to respond firmly.

Araqchi also highlighted the Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, calling them grave violations of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. He asserted that such attacks undermine the international legal order, damage diplomatic norms, and destabilize the global non-proliferation regime. He added that accountability lies with both the aggressors and their supporters.

Invoking Article 51 of the UN Charter, Araqchi reaffirmed Iran’s right to self-defense, stating that the Iranian Armed Forces are fully prepared to respond decisively to any further acts of aggression by Israel or its allies.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also condemned the unwavering support of the United States and some European countries for Israel, arguing that this has emboldened the regime to continue what he described as genocidal actions in the occupied Palestinian territories and aggression against Lebanon and Syria.

In response, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski welcomed the recent ceasefire in the region and expressed hope that it would contribute to de-escalating tensions in the Middle East. He also thanked Iran for its cooperation in strengthening consular relations between the two countries.

The call reflected ongoing diplomatic engagement between Iran and European states amid rising regional tensions, with Iran urging a more balanced and principled European role in addressing the crisis.
