President Tokayev

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has commended the vital role of youth in advancing the nationwide ecological campaign “Taza Qazaqstan,” underscoring their contribution as a driving force behind environmental protection and civic responsibility.

Speaking during the campaign, the Kazakh president recalled that the initiative was launched two years ago and has since evolved into a significant national movement. He expressed gratitude to all participants, with special recognition for young volunteers who have demonstrated strong commitment to environmental stewardship.

Tokayev emphasized that the younger generation represents the backbone of the campaign, actively contributing to preserving nature and promoting a culture of responsibility. He noted that the future of Kazakhstan rests in the hands of determined, patriotic, and purposeful citizens dedicated to building a cleaner and stronger nation.

Highlighting the broader vision of the initiative, the president stressed that environmental protection, maintaining public cleanliness, and fostering ecological awareness are central to shaping a new national identity. He reiterated that Kazakhstan’s progress must be aligned with sustainability, safety, and long-term development goals.

The president also pointed to tangible achievements under the campaign, noting that approximately 1.2 million hectares of land were cleared and around 4 million seedlings planted as part of last year’s greening efforts. The initiative attracted nearly 800,000 volunteers, reflecting widespread public engagement.

Addressing global environmental challenges, Tokayev warned that climate change and ecological degradation pose serious threats, making environmental security an essential component of national security. He stressed that no single country can address these challenges alone and called for a unified global response involving diplomacy, science, business, and civil society.

The remarks came shortly after a United Nations-backed Regional Ecological Summit held in Astana, which focused on eco-volunteering, sustainable resource management, and regional cooperation.

President Tokayev concluded by urging the youth to embrace their historic responsibility in leading Kazakhstan toward becoming one of the world’s most advanced nations, driven by innovation, cultural strength, and humanistic values.
