Astana, The Gulf Observer: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ceremoniously handed over the state flag to the members of Kazakhstan’s national team set to participate in the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris. The event, held in the presence of athletes and officials, was announced by the Akorda press service.

In his address to the athletes, President Tokayev emphasized the significance of the Paris Games, describing them as a highly anticipated global event.

“We have high hopes for you and the entire nation will root for you. Our athletes have always brought awards to the homeland. I am confident that you will continue this glorious path with honor, and your achievements will become a victory for the whole Kazakhstan. The sky-blue flag soaring into the heights undoubtedly raises the spirit of all our people,” stated the Head of State.

President Tokayev highlighted the extensive support provided to sportsmen, mentioning the construction of sports facilities across cities and villages, with around 70 sports centers opened last year and plans to build approximately 200 more this year. He also noted recent structural changes in the National Olympic Committee, including the establishment of a headquarters for Olympic preparation and the involvement of experienced professionals like Gennady Golovkin.

“The result will come only when everyone becomes a true master of his craft. Our people have always respected the sportsmen,” Tokayev remarked.

The President underscored the athletes’ responsibility to represent Kazakhstan with dignity and wished them success.

“You all made an incredible effort to earn these Olympic quotas. I am sure you will do your best and will achieve high results. The entire Kazakhstan will support you,” he stressed.

The state flag was handed to Aslanbek Shymbergenov, the captain of the team. Most of the team members attended the event via videoconference from the Akbulak Olympic Training Center in the Almaty region.

This event marks a significant moment as Kazakhstan prepares to showcase its athletic talent on the world stage at the upcoming Olympic Games.
