Prime Minister Chính Sets Ambitious Economic Growth Target for Quảng Ngãi in 2025
Quảng Ngãi, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has directed Quảng Ngãi Province to strive for an economic growth rate of 10-10.5 per cent in 2025. His directive came during a meeting with local leaders on February 9 as part of his visit to the central province.
During the session, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for innovative thinking, long-term vision, and decisive action to drive Quảng Ngãi’s economic transformation. He urged the province to rejuvenate its traditional growth engines—investment, export, and consumption—while embracing emerging economic models, including the green economy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge-based economy, night-time economy, and cultural industries.
PM Chính instructed local authorities to study, review, and design mechanisms to mobilize resources effectively and foster economic momentum. He acknowledged Quảng Ngãi’s achievements in 2024, noting that the province met or exceeded all 25 of its socio-economic targets, thereby contributing to the nation’s overall success.
The Prime Minister outlined three strategic breakthroughs essential for Quảng Ngãi’s development: enhancing institutional frameworks, improving infrastructure comprehensively, and investing in high-quality human resources. He stressed that infrastructure development should encompass transport, information technology, healthcare, education, and socio-cultural facilities. Additionally, he underscored the need to strengthen Party organizations at all levels, particularly at the grassroots, and ensure social welfare through initiatives such as eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing and addressing delayed projects.
He called for the province to accelerate organizational restructuring in line with Resolution No.18 of the Party Central Committee and to prepare for upcoming Party congresses at all levels, culminating in the 14th National Party Congress. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of implementing Resolution No.57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
PM Chính also directed relevant ministries and sectors to collaborate with Quảng Ngãi in removing obstacles and maximizing the province’s potential for rapid and sustainable growth. Concerning the proposed Lý Sơn Airport project, he urged local authorities to conduct a thorough feasibility study, assess its necessity and efficiency, and explore public-private partnership opportunities, particularly in relation to tourism development.
Expressing confidence in Quảng Ngãi’s progress, he emphasized that with the support of ministries and sectors, coupled with the dedicated efforts of the local Party organization, administration, and people, the province will successfully achieve its goals in 2025.
In 2024, Quảng Ngãi’s GDP reached VNĐ132 trillion (US$5.21 billion), ranking 24th among the country’s 63 provinces and cities. Its state budget revenue exceeded VNĐ30 trillion, surpassing the assigned target by 18.7 per cent and placing it 12th nationwide.
