Protests Continue in Los Angeles Against Trump’s Immigration Policies
Los Angeles, The Gulf Observer: Demonstrators gathered in Los Angeles for a second consecutive day on Monday to protest against U.S. President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, voicing strong opposition to recent enforcement measures.
Waving Mexican and El Salvadoran flags, protesters carried banners with messages such as “Immigration Built This Nation,” “No ICE,” “Abolish ICE,” and “I did not serve this country for you to belittle my people.”
Since taking office on January 20, President Trump has signed executive orders aimed at expelling large numbers of immigrants, including measures to revoke birthright citizenship. In the weeks following these actions, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has intensified its daily raids, reportedly targeting immigrants in everyday settings, creating an atmosphere of fear among affected communities.
The recent passage of the Laken Riley Act, a legislative victory for the Trump administration, grants law enforcement expanded authority to detain undocumented immigrants suspected of certain crimes. Additionally, Trump has ordered preparations for a facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to detain up to 30,000 migrants, a move that has drawn further criticism from immigration advocates and human rights organizations.
The protests in Los Angeles reflect growing national opposition to the administration’s immigration policies, with activists calling for legislative and judicial intervention to halt the measures.
