Referendum begins in Bukhara

Bukhara, The Gulf Observer: 610 referendum precincts established in Bukhara region started working at 8:00 AM. Preparations for the referendum in the referendum precincts were carried out based on a strict and defined plan.

At 8:00 in the morning, the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan was played at the referendum precincts. The members of the commission began their duties.

The members of the commission are paying particular attention to the thorough and high-level conduction of the referendum in all respects. Referendum precinct No. 20, like all precincts of the region, is equipped based on the requirements established in the law “On the Referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan”. Necessary technical means – telephone, photocopier, Internet, and relevant literature are provided. Several conveniences have been created for voters. Posters on referendum legislation, rights and obligations of voters, medical center are provided.

Through the video cameras installed here and connected to the web portal of the Central Election Commission, not only people in Uzbekistan, but also others from any part of the world can directly observe the referendum process.

“2,616 voters are registered in our referendum precinct”, says Umid Sobirov, Chairman of the Referendum Commission of the No.20 precinct in Bukhara. The legal basis for the referendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan is fully formed based on the national experience and universally recognized international norms. Based on democratic principles such as fairness, openness, and transparency, voters are given ample opportunities to freely participate in the referendum. Voting has begun.
