Restoration Works Underway at PhaungdawU Pagoda Following Earthquake Damage

Inlay, The Gulf Observer: Urgent restoration work is progressing at the PhaungdawU Pagoda compound to repair damage caused by the recent strong earthquake centered near Mandalay.

Engineers and workers are reinforcing the pagoda platform with steel sheet piles, which are being transported by motorboats from the nearby hotel zone jetty. Installation began from the northern side using heavy machinery. Simultaneously, concrete is being poured to strengthen the supporting pillars of the main monastery.

The project is being carried out with the support of engineers, members of the Tatmadaw, police, fire brigade, and volunteers. Authorities aim to complete the repairs before the Thadingyut Buddha Pujaniya Festival.
