Saudi Arabia Named Guest of Honor at Beijing International Book Fair

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: The Saudi Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, in collaboration with the China National Publications Import and Export Group Corporation, sealed a significant agreement to designate Saudi Arabia as the guest of honor at the forthcoming Beijing International Book Fair. The fair is scheduled to take place in the Chinese capital from June 19 to 23 of this year.

The signing ceremony, attended by distinguished figures including Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, CEO of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission Dr. Mohammed Hasan Alwan, and representatives from the Chinese side, marked a pivotal moment in fostering cultural ties between the two nations.

Saudi Arabia’s participation as the guest of honor at the fair reflects a concerted effort to fortify cultural exchange, enhance collaboration in literature, culture, and the arts, and foster dialogue while fostering friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom and China.

A diverse cultural program is set to showcase the rich heritage, knowledge, and cultural diversity of Saudi Arabia through various activities such as seminars, dialogue sessions, workshops, and artistic performances. This multi-faceted engagement aims to provide attendees with insights into the Kingdom’s literary landscape and promote cross-cultural understanding.

Building on the success of previous engagements, Saudi Arabia’s participation as the guest of honor follows its recent prominent role at the New Delhi International Book Fair, held from February 10 to 18. Following the Beijing International Book Fair, the Kingdom is slated to be the guest of honor at the Seoul International Book Fair, scheduled from June 26 to 30, 2024.

These initiatives underscore Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering global literary exchange and promoting cultural diplomacy on the international stage.
