Saudi Arabia, UK Sign Declaration to Support Injured Children in Gaza

London, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia and United Kingdom on Tuesday signed a joint declaration of intent aimed at supporting children injured as a result of the ongoing military escalation in the Gaza Strip through emergency surgical care and medical treatment.
The declaration was signed during a meeting between Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), and Jenny Chapman at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office on the sidelines of the Global Partnerships Conference 2026 held in London.
During the meeting, both sides discussed issues related to humanitarian and relief cooperation, as well as ways to strengthen bilateral partnerships in support of humanitarian efforts in several countries facing crises.
Under the declaration, the two countries will expand their strategic partnership to fund and implement humanitarian projects dedicated to caring for injured children in Gaza. The agreement comes amid growing concern over the increasing number of child amputees in the territory and the continuing need for prosthetic limb replacements as children grow.
The declaration also provides for emergency surgical care and treatment for the wounded, support for healthcare infrastructure, enhanced infection prevention and control measures, and operational support and training for medical personnel. These initiatives will be implemented by Imperial College London.
The two-day Global Partnerships Conference 2026, hosted by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in London, brought together government officials, international organizations, humanitarian agencies, investors, innovators, civil society representatives, and leaders from the business and technology sectors.
The conference aims to establish broader and more modern partnerships that support countries in expanding their economies and strengthening self-reliance.
KSrelief said its participation in the conference reflects its commitment to enhancing international cooperation in humanitarian work and addressing global challenges, while emphasizing the importance of balancing emergency response efforts with medium- and long-term sustainable development solutions.
