Saudi Shoura Speaker, Italian MPs Discuss Ties at Interfaith Dialogue Conference

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of Saudi Arabia’s Shoura Council, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Asheikh, held a meeting with Chairman of the Saudi-Italian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Marco Osnato, and other Italian parliamentarians on the sidelines of the Second Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, currently underway in Rome, Italy. The engagement was reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Saturday.
Chairman Osnato welcomed Sheikh Al-Asheikh and lauded the robust cooperation and longstanding relations between Saudi Arabia and Italy, commending the Kingdom’s constructive efforts in promoting international peace, stability, and conflict avoidance.
Sheikh Al-Asheikh praised the close bilateral ties and reaffirmed the importance of further strengthening Saudi-Italian relations to serve the mutual interests of both nations and their peoples. The two sides discussed current aspects of bilateral cooperation and explored avenues for advancing collaboration across multiple sectors.
During the three-day interfaith conference, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, highlighted the crucial role of parliaments in fostering global dialogue. He emphasized the importance of such conferences in building bridges and enhancing mutual understanding among nations.
The event brought together lawmakers from around the world for panel discussions focused on countering hate speech, promoting a shared future for humanity, and encouraging intercultural and interreligious harmony.
The participation of the Saudi Shoura Council underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to constructive parliamentary diplomacy and its active role in international efforts to foster interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
