South Korea: 22 people dead from heavy rain
Seoul, The Gulf Observer: According to South Korean government as of 6 p.m. Saturday reported 22 dead and 14 missing since Friday.
Casualties from the heavy rain especially in the middle and southern regions on the Peninsula is expected to rise further.
The people includes two, who had died from a landslide in Nonsan, South Chuncheong, and two, who were buried from a landslide in Yeongju, North Gyeongsang, on Saturday.
North Gyeongsang emergency office alone estimated 13 dead and 12 missing.
The number of people dead could further go up as 19 vehicles in an underpass in Osong, North Chungcheong, were trapped in an underpass after the nearby Miho River flooded.
Nine people had been rescued while one did not survive.
The emergency team is trying to still rescue 17 people believed to be trapped in the underpass. However, the strong current from the opening of the dams and the continuing heavy rain is reported to be the biggest obstacle.
