Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Representatives of Tajikistan’s tourism sector have officially established the National Tourism Association of Tajikistan, marking a significant step toward strengthening cooperation within the industry and enhancing the country’s tourism competitiveness on the global stage.

The decision was adopted during a meeting held in Dushanbe with the participation of the leadership of the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, alongside representatives of tourism companies, hotels, restaurants, airlines, souvenir producers, and other stakeholders from across the tourism industry.

During the meeting, participants selected 11 companies as founding members of the newly established Association. A decision was also made to allow additional participants from Tajikistan’s tourism market to join the organization, ensuring broad representation of the sector.

In an open vote, participants elected Umed Saidov as the Head of the National Tourism Association of Tajikistan.

Addressing the gathering, Saidov described the creation of the Association as a major milestone in consolidating the country’s tourism potential and establishing a unified platform for the sector’s development.

“The establishment of the National Tourism Association of Tajikistan is an important step toward bringing together the industry’s resources and creating a coordinated mechanism for advancing tourism development,” he said.

Saidov also emphasized that the Association would operate in close cooperation with the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to support national tourism objectives and foster sustainable growth.

Participants highlighted that the Association’s primary mission will be to strengthen collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders, protect the interests of tourism entrepreneurs, improve the quality of tourism services, and promote Tajikistan’s tourism opportunities in international markets.

Industry representatives noted that the new organization will serve as a unified platform for tourism businesses and related enterprises, facilitating dialogue, cooperation, and joint initiatives aimed at expanding the sector’s contribution to the national economy.

The National Tourism Association of Tajikistan is expected to play a key role in supporting the sustainable development of the tourism industry while enhancing the competitiveness and international visibility of Tajikistan’s tourism products and destinations.

The establishment of the Association reflects the country’s broader efforts to position tourism as a strategic sector for economic growth, investment attraction, and cultural exchange, while showcasing Tajikistan’s rich natural landscapes, historical heritage, and hospitality to a global audience.
