Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: Tajikistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Idibek Kalandar participated in the 13th European Union–Central Asia High-Level Political and Security Dialogue, held in Brussels on July 16, where senior officials reviewed regional cooperation and discussed shared political and security priorities.

The high-level meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the European Union and the Central Asian countries in the fields of politics, security, and resilience, while also assessing progress in implementing the agreements reached at the first EU–Central Asia Summit and under the EU–Central Asia Joint Roadmap.

During the dialogue, participants exchanged views on expanding collaboration to combat terrorism, prevent violent extremism and radicalisation, strengthen border management, counter illicit drug trafficking, promote regional cooperation on water resources, and enhance regional connectivity.

The discussions also covered a range of international and regional issues of mutual interest, reaffirming the shared commitment of the European Union and Central Asian countries to promoting regional stability, sustainable development, and closer political cooperation.

Tajikistan’s participation in the dialogue reflects the country’s continued engagement in strengthening its partnership with the European Union and contributing to collective efforts aimed at addressing common regional and global challenges.
