Washington, The Gulf Observer: U.S. President Donald Trump announced that airstrikes scheduled against the Islamic Republic of Iran have been cancelled following what he described as elevated diplomatic discussions and progress toward an agreement.

In a statement posted on the Truth Social platform, President Trump said the decision followed developments in negotiations that had reportedly reached the highest levels of leadership in Iran.

“Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been elevated to the highest level of leadership in Iran and have been approved, I, as President of the United States of America, have cancelled the strikes and bombing operations that were scheduled against Iran this evening,” he stated.

He added that a naval blockade would continue to remain in full force until the agreement is finalized. According to his statement, further details regarding the timing and location of the signing ceremony would be announced at a later stage.

No additional official details regarding the scope of the agreement or the nature of the negotiations have yet been released by U.S. or Iranian authorities.
