Turkmen President Berdimuhamedov Arrives in Kazakhstan for Regional Environmental Summit

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Kazakhstan on Tuesday for a two-day working visit to participate in key regional events focused on environmental and sustainable development challenges, according to Turkmenistan media reports.
The visit is aimed at attending the Regional Environmental Summit (RES 2026) in the capital, as well as a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the founding members of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
Upon arrival at Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport, the Turkmen leader was received by Kazakh officials, with national flags of participating countries raised and an honor guard assembled to mark the high-level visit. Members of the Turkmen delegation also accompanied the president.
During the upcoming summits, leaders are expected to deliberate on strengthening regional cooperation to advance sustainable development across Central Asia, while addressing pressing environmental, climate, and water-related challenges. President Berdimuhamedov is scheduled to deliver remarks outlining Turkmenistan’s position and will join other regional leaders in visiting a specialized environmental exhibition.
The Regional Environmental Summit (RES 2026), being held for the first time at the initiative of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aims to bring together Central Asian leaders on a unified platform to develop coordinated responses to climate change in collaboration with the United Nations.
