UAE Allocates US$10 Million in Emergency Aid for Venezuela Earthquake Victims
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates has announced an urgent humanitarian assistance package worth US$10 million to support people affected by two earthquakes that struck off the northern coast near the city of Morón in Venezuela.
The emergency response, to be delivered through the UAE Aid Agency, underscores the UAE’s continued commitment to providing rapid humanitarian assistance to communities impacted by natural disasters and humanitarian crises worldwide.
The initiative is aimed at accelerating early recovery efforts, promoting stability in the affected areas, and meeting urgent humanitarian needs through the provision of food supplies, medical items, shelter equipment, and other essential relief assistance for all segments of society.
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, said the relief operation reflects the UAE’s leading global humanitarian role and its longstanding commitment to supporting disaster-stricken communities.
He noted that the country’s humanitarian approach is rooted in the enduring legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and continues under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose vision and unwavering support have enabled the UAE to deliver timely humanitarian assistance and help mitigate the impact of natural disasters across the world.
Al Ameri said those affected by the twin earthquakes are facing severe humanitarian challenges and difficult living conditions, making immediate relief assistance essential.
He added that the UAE Aid Agency is working closely with the Venezuelan authorities and relevant international organizations to ensure the rapid delivery of food supplies, medical assistance, shelter equipment, and other emergency relief materials. The coordinated effort aims to address urgent humanitarian needs and alleviate the devastating impact of the earthquakes on affected communities.
