UAE President and Australian Governor-General Discuss Bilateral Ties and Future Cooperation

Abu Dhabi, , The Gulf Observer: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, met with Her Excellency Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, to discuss the strengthening of relations between the two nations and explore new avenues for cooperation.The meeting, held at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, focused on bilateral ties, particularly in development-related sectors, following the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and Australia last year. His Highness welcomed Her Excellency Mostyn and the accompanying delegation on their official visit, wishing continued progress and prosperity for Australia and its people.
The two leaders reviewed regional and international issues of mutual interest, with a particular emphasis on developments in the Middle East. They reiterated the importance of promoting regional stability and supporting efforts to achieve a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region. Both sides also stressed the need for peaceful solutions to global conflicts, advocating for dialogue that serves humanity’s collective interests and supports global prosperity.This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Australia. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed highlighted this milestone as an opportunity to reaffirm both countries’ commitment to deepening their cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, sustainability, culture, education, food security, and technology.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasized that the UAE is keen to advance relations with Australia, particularly by investing in future-focused sectors. The UAE’s approach, he said, is to build bridges of cooperation for mutual benefit. The two sides expressed the importance of continuing to strengthen collaboration in priority areas to ensure greater prosperity and well-being for their peoples.They also discussed the UAE-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which they agreed provides an effective framework to stimulate economic cooperation, foster trade and investment, and create favorable conditions for businesses in both countries to enhance coordination, investment, and the development of joint ventures.
Her Excellency Sam Mostyn thanked His Highness for the warm welcome and praised the progress in the bilateral relationship. She reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to further strengthening ties for the benefit of both nations.The meeting was attended by senior UAE officials, including H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region; H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and other key figures from both the UAE and Australian delegations.
