Uzbekistan, Türkiye to enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva has met with a delegation led by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Fuat Oktay.

The parties discussed inter-parliamentary relations and enhancing practical cooperation in trade, economic, investment, agricultural, transport, energy, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

It was noted that as a result of official visits and regular talks between the leaders of the two countries, the comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Türkiye has been brought to a new stage, and the Uzbekistan – Türkiye Strategic Partnership Council also plays a special role in this.

The growing importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the intensification of dialogues and visits in recent years serve to strengthen mutual trust.

The parties exchanged views on bringing to a qualitatively new level the activities of the inter-parliamentary group on cooperation between the Oliy Majlis and the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye and the inter-parliamentary friendship group “Türkiye – Uzbekistan”, as well as the implementation of systemic parliamentary control over the performance of the tasks of the Action Plan, adopted based on the agreements achieved at a high level.

It was also emphasized that it is in the interests of the two states to continue dialogues between parliamentary committees in trade, economy, investment, innovation, the banking and financial system, tourism, culture, and other areas.

“The land of Uzbekistan, for all of us, is the main part of a single Turkic civilization, at the same time, we consider Uzbekistan a state that, thanks to its important initiatives, plays a central strategic role in ensuring peace and security in the Central Asian region”, Fuat Oktay said. – The stronger and more active cooperation in various areas is, the more effective and longer inter-parliamentary relations between our countries will be. In this sense, we hope to see Uzbekistan as a full Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States member shortly.

At the event, views were exchanged on cooperation prospects between the two countries and joint projects.
