Uzbek President hosts Russian, Chinese FM’s

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is participating in the events of the SCO Foreign Ministers Council meeting in Tashkent, the presidential press service said.
Reportedly, the parties discussed in detail topical issues included in the agenda of the Uzbek-Russian strategic partnership and alliance ties and focused on the situation in the region and aspects of interaction within the framework of international structures, including preparations for the SCO summit.
The parties noted the dynamic development of cooperation between the two countries. Year-to-date, the two-way trade has increased by 32%. As part of the activities of the joint Project Office, it is planned to implement about 40 large investment projects by the end of the year.
The parties also exchanged views on the prospects for regional cooperation, including in the Central Asia-Russia format and paid particular attention to the issues of expanding assistance to the peaceful settlement and socio-economic reconstruction of Afghanistan.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the member of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China/Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, who arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the SCO Foreign Ministers Council meeting.
This was announced by the president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov.
According to him, the parties explored the ways to further enhance the Uzbek-Chinese ties of comprehensive strategic partnership, expand cooperation and exchanged views on the prospects for deepening regional cooperation, and the agenda for the upcoming SCO summit.
