Vietnamese NA Chairman Pays Tribute to Former Vietnamese Generals in Thừa Thiên-Huế
Hue, The Gulf Observer: National Assembly (NA) Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn and his delegation commemorated former State President General Lê Đức Anh and General Nguyễn Chí Thanh during their visit to Thừa Thiên-Huế Province on Sunday.
The tribute was part of activities marking the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944–2024) and the 35th anniversary of the All People’s Defence Festival (December 22, 1989–2024).
At the memorial site for General Lê Đức Anh in Lộc An Commune, Phú Lộc District, the NA Chairman laid flowers and offered incense in remembrance of the former State President. He praised the late leader as a dedicated revolutionary, talented general, and proud son of Thừa Thiên-Huế. In the guest book, Mẫn congratulated the province on its upcoming designation as a centrally-run city from January 1, 2025, and expressed hope for continued improvements in the residents’ quality of life.
General Lê Đức Anh, with over 80 years of Party membership, devoted his life to Vietnam’s revolutionary cause. His achievements earned him numerous awards, including the Gold Star Order and first-class Military Exploit Order, among others.
At the General Nguyễn Chí Thanh Museum in Thuận Hòa Ward, Huế City, Chairman Mẫn commemorated the general’s unwavering contributions to the nation’s liberation and defence. He encouraged local authorities to further develop the museum as an educational hub to instill patriotism and revolutionary values among youth.
The NA Chairman also visited and presented gifts to the families of war invalids Hà Văn Lưỡng and Nguyễn Viết Đáo in Phú Nhuận Ward, Hue City, as part of his working trip.
