Iranian President Arrives in Ashgabat

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: In a significant diplomatic visit, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, on Thursday night. His visit is aimed at participating in the commemoration ceremony of the 300th anniversary of the renowned Turkmen poet, Makhtumgholi Faraghi, and engaging with key national leaders.

Upon his arrival, President Pezeshkian was welcomed by Rashid Meredov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, alongside the Iranian Ambassador and members of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ashgabat.

The Iranian President is set to attend the international conference titled “Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – The Basis of Peace and Development,” commemorating the legacy of Makhtumgholi Faraghi.

During his trip, President Pezeshkian is also scheduled to meet with several prominent leaders, including Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, the national leader and head of the People’s Expediency of Turkmenistan; Serdar Berdimuhamedow, the President of Turkmenistan; and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Accompanying President Pezeshkian are key Iranian officials, including Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Abbas Salehi, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance; Mohammad Atabek, Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade; and Mohammad Reza Salehi Amiri, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts. This visit underscores the strengthening ties between Iran and Turkmenistan, as well as regional cooperation in cultural and diplomatic endeavors.
