Indonesia Urges Universities to Boost MSMEs Through Strategic Partnerships

MSMEs

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro has called on universities to establish robust partnership schemes aimed at enhancing the quality of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“Three key forms of partnerships are being developed: student internships, industrial training with joint research, and curriculum alignment with industry needs. These collaborations are expected to elevate MSME product quality,” the minister said in a statement on Saturday.

While student internships are the primary collaboration form, Brodjonegoro emphasized diversifying these partnerships. He urged universities to adopt strategic and innovative approaches, offering broader and more sustainable collaboration opportunities with the business world.

Minister of Trade Budi Santoso echoed the sentiment, highlighting Indonesia’s large domestic market and the potential of university-business incubator collaborations to expand into global markets. The joint effort aims to empower students and strengthen MSMEs as a pillar of Indonesia’s economic growth.
